MacDowell Colony: Calderwood Studio, Peterborough, New Hampshire

The MacDowell Colony nurtures artists by offering creative individuals of the highest talent an inspiring environment in which to produce enduring works of the imagination. Calderwood, this new writer’s studio, has the requisite fireplace nook, screened porch, sunny writing area, and loft that have been part of all their favorite studios since the turn of the century (they have built only one other new one since the 1930s). We put the bathtub in a window seat between the bedroom and the screened porch, as our contribution to great reading spaces.
